eek.
uk doctors do my head in.
2 things you should consider doing, not just to speed healing but more importantly to dramatically reduce the risk of future lifestyle impact::
1: go to chemist, buy tube of hirudoid for about #3, smear on enthusiastically as often as possible. ignore what doctor/chemist/pieceofpaperinbox says: for some reason in the uk they're all parrotting heparin's effects, rather than the particular flavour of heparinoid in hirudoid which is over 100 times as effective as heparin for speeding healing in this context.
2/ comfrey. simple, cheap, even DIY-able. its old name "knit-bone" has been profoundly proven spot-on. works ok-ish as a tea, vastly better as an ointment. you can make your own by boiling down comfrey leaves in beeswax or similar. or just hit a good healthfood shop and buy aussie or swiss ointments.
